About this game
Aliens are preparing an invasion from the far side of the moon, and agent Jim Track enters their base to rescue captives. The campaign connects rooms and floors through keycards, switches and elevators that shape the route forward. Players move, turn and strafe from a first-person viewpoint, switching weapons and consulting a map while searching. The arsenal includes conventional firearms and unusual special weapons. A brightness setting allows the display to be adjusted for viewing conditions. Separate multiplayer arenas offer competitive matches for up to four players using a GBA link cable. These battles are distinct from the single-player rescue campaign.

Direct shooting feedback with demanding old-school margins
Back Track centers on aiming, shooting, and weapon management. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, and weapon opportunities, giving the handheld release a recognizable rhythm and a clear set of player goals. Projectile, hit, and hazard readability drive the presentation, and the best parts connect readable objectives with steady mechanical feedback. The small screen and dense encounters amplify reaction and memorization demands, which is the main reason the original cartridge can feel less approachable today. This GameNavo assessment uses the release description, classification, media record, and retained source evidence. It does not import user ratings, press aggregates, emulator conveniences, or features belonging to console versions and later remakes.
Strengths
- The central loop connects aiming, shooting, and weapon management with readable goals.
- Progress has a clear structure and introduces recognizable stage or system changes.
- Presentation supports the rules with useful visual and audio feedback.
Weaknesses
- The small screen and dense encounters amplify reaction and memorization demands.
- The original GBA release lacks modern conveniences such as rewind, save states, and expanded tutorials.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy shooter games, accept period-specific handheld controls, and want to understand the original release on its own terms.
Play notes: This assessment is based on documented release evidence rather than a full playthrough; language, link hardware, and cartridge save condition may affect use. This score was recalibrated under professional-v2 without external ratings, source volume, asset count, title recognition, or URL-derived values.
