About this game

B. L. U. E. - Legend of Water is a PlayStation puzzle game centered on puzzle, maze, or device solving, rule recognition, and spatial or logical judgment. Compact stages add conditions and tighter constraints over time, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Graphics, audio, and input feedback need to support decisions directly, while early 3D graphics, pre-rendered backgrounds, CD audio, and full-motion video need to preserve targets and interface readability on a television. The genre-specific limitation is that limited explanations, input recognition, repetition, or abrupt difficulty can stall progress. Platform conditions also include disc loading, Memory Card saves, regional video standards, digital or analog control support, vibration, and dedicated peripherals affect original-hardware use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Distinctive underwater puzzles and atmosphere, tempered by restricted saving.

The original PlayStation B.L.U.E.: Legend of Water ties underwater swimming, oxygen management, ruins and commands to a dolphin companion into an unusual adventure. Exploration asks the player to watch the compass and air supply while deciding when to investigate, cooperate with Luka or return to a safe pocket. The full-polygon ocean setting and the partner relationship give its puzzles an identity beyond a standard inventory adventure. A detailed original-version guide documents D-pad menus, Circle to confirm and X to cancel, but it also establishes a meaningful usability restriction: memory-card saving is available only at the base, above water or inside air pockets. Failure during a deeper dive can therefore mean repeating travel. The score rewards atmosphere and purposeful navigation while recognizing that limited saves and Japanese narrative text are real obstacles for some current players. A later fan translation is not treated as original release content.

Strengths

  • Distinct ocean atmosphere and purposeful dolphin-assisted puzzles.

Weaknesses

  • Restricted dive saves and Japanese story text.

Who it is for: Players who enjoy ocean exploration and deliberate puzzles.

Play notes: Original story text is Japanese; save before long dives.
