About this game
Adventure Time Pirates of the Enchiridion is a PlayStation 4 fighting game centered on combat encounters, story, case, or mission progress, and character matchups. Short bouts use character differences and rising difficulty for variety, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hit feedback, and readable arenas create match tension, while HD output, HDR or PS4 Pro modes, HDD streaming, surround audio, and television-distance interfaces need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that button mapping, move recognition, multiplayer accessories, and cpu behavior can affect balance. Platform conditions also include HDD installs and loading, patch version, storage space, DualShock 4 battery life, PS Camera or PS VR requirements, visual modes, frame rate, and network services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

PlayStation 4AI review

The cast keeps this flooded-world voyage lively, but PS4 friction repeatedly breaks its flow.
Pirates of the Enchiridion turns the flooded Land of Ooo into a route between islands. Finn, Jake, Marceline and BMO gradually form a party with different attacking, defensive and support roles. Their ultimate meters reward different actions, giving the accessible turn-based battles some character. Original voice performers, familiar locations and playful sailing conversations make the trip particularly inviting to viewers of the show. The supporting systems promise more choice than they deliver. Money is plentiful enough to make most upgrades routine, interrogations seldom change the outcome, and the story closes abruptly. The reviewed European PS4 Slim build has more intrusive problems: sailing can stutter badly, a death can lead to a very long reload, and there is no manual save. Choosing special attacks with the analogue menu can also produce a wrong selection. The show’s humour survives these interruptions, but the technical and interface costs weaken a game otherwise suited to relaxed exploration.
Strengths
- Party roles and original voices retain the show’s personality.
- Sailing exchanges make familiar characters enjoyable company.
Weaknesses
- Stutter and lengthy PS4 reloads disrupt travel.
- Upgrades and interrogations offer little depth.
Who it is for: Adventure Time fans wanting a light turn-based journey.
Play notes: 2018 European PS4 Slim launch review; later patches are unverified.
