About this game

Action Man - Destruction X is a PlayStation racing game centered on driving and route control, vehicle control, and route judgment. Tracks raise pressure through corners, rivals, and time targets, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Speed, track boundaries, and vehicle feedback determine driving readability, while early 3D graphics, pre-rendered backgrounds, CD audio, and full-motion video need to preserve targets and interface readability on a television. The genre-specific limitation is that visibility, collisions, steering precision, wheel support, or loading can limit consistency. Platform conditions also include disc loading, Memory Card saves, regional video standards, digital or analog control support, vibration, and dedicated peripherals affect original-hardware use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

A lively toy-agent adventure with shallow challenge.

Destruction X strings chases, rescues, code puzzles and races into an approachable toy-agent adventure. Its opening dinosaur fight supplies a welcome burst of spectacle, while simple steering and saves between assignments make progress easy to resume. The challenge rarely develops much further: enemies replenish more health than they remove, and plentiful guided weapons flatten tougher encounters. Rain and snow alter driving conditions, and medal challenges, reverse courses and arcade replays provide worthwhile extras. However, the repeated mission-and-race structure loses freshness across visually similar cities. Narrow streets expose unreliable wall collisions and exaggerated traffic impacts, making pursuit less satisfying than its premise suggests. Repeated music and modest staging also limit staying power. It is best approached as relaxed, short-session action rather than demanding driving or combat.

Strengths

  • Different objectives and weather conditions add variety.
  • Driving medals, reverse courses and intermediate saves support replay.

Weaknesses

  • Overgenerous supplies, repeated mission templates, inconsistent collisions and repetitive music limit the experience.

Who it is for: Solo players seeking easygoing toy-agent missions.

Play notes: German voice observations apply to the German review copies; bonus combat is against AI, not human multiplayer.
