About this game
Abo Khashem is a PlayStation 4 role-playing game centered on combat encounters, area and route exploration, and character progression. Story beats, exploration, and progression resources support a longer campaign, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Characters, world building, environments, and music carry most of the atmosphere, while HD output, HDR or PS4 Pro modes, HDD streaming, surround audio, and television-distance interfaces need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that dense text, menu layers, repeated battles, loading, or language dependence can slow progress. Platform conditions also include HDD installs and loading, patch version, storage space, DualShock 4 battery life, PS Camera or PS VR requirements, visual modes, frame rate, and network services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Comic combat has charm, but too many systems pull the adventure apart.
Abo Khashem follows an amnesiac hero and a talking lizard through a deliberately absurd city. Odd weapons have distinct weight, and assembling attack combinations makes fights with cat enemies playful. Trips into other dimensions, races and collectibles keep offering diversions. Yet the abundance of separate skill trees, stat allocations and property management systems can make a light action adventure feel administratively crowded. Phone errands repeat with new locations, while caring for purchased buildings returns little for the attention required. Bright scenery, silly conversations and varied music establish an eccentric personality, even if voice performances and character models are uneven. The March 2018 PS4 review describes an update that enlarged formerly tiny text, so that launch issue is not counted against the tested build. Default right-stick sensitivity remains too high, and the touchpad can turn the camera accidentally; settings provide a useful adjustment.
Strengths
- Unusual weapons and custom combos make combat lively.
- Strange characters and side worlds add personality.
Weaknesses
- Excess skill and property systems crowd the action.
- Repeated errands weaken story momentum.
Who it is for: Players who enjoy eccentric open-ended adventures and can choose among many uneven activities.
Play notes: March 2018 updated PS4 scope; reduce default camera sensitivity before playing.
