About this game
ABC Wipeout 3 is a Wii U action game centered on platform movement and landing judgment, movement and immediate actions, and enemy and hazard responses. Stages build pressure through routes, enemy patterns, and changing objectives, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make its immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Animation, hits, camera behavior, and readable hazards determine whether feedback remains dependable, while HD television output and the GamePad screen need to divide maps, status, touch input, and primary focus clearly. The genre-specific limitation is that camera behavior, collision rules, input mapping, and repeated ground after failure can raise the entry barrier. Platform conditions also include GamePad battery life and range, shifts between two screens, loading, performance, and retired online and Miiverse services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features from other editions.

GamePad trap play gives a modest obstacle game its strongest identity.
Wipeout 3 on Wii U simplifies its obstacle courses to forward and backward movement, jumping, ducking and sliding. That makes the timing of spinning beams and oversized red balls approachable for newcomers. Twelve themed episodes, collectable currency and equipment unlocks provide some progression, while the original announcers give the contests a recognisable television personality. Solo play soon runs out of tension: the courses cannot truly eliminate a player, and the between-round boards do not present useful times for comparison. With friends, simultaneous races work better. One GamePad user can instead operate doors, pendulums, platforms and thrown hazards in Trap Attack while Wii Remote players attempt to survive. That asymmetric role makes the hardware matter. Split-screen does take a frame-rate hit, and sparse scenery, static water and poorly framed replays blunt some physical comedy. This edition is a lively party option with a thin solo campaign.
Strengths
- GamePad Trap Attack gives friends distinct roles.
- Straightforward controls let inexperienced players join.
Weaknesses
- Solo courses provide little real failure pressure.
- Split-screen slows and replays often miss the joke.
Who it is for: Groups who want light obstacle racing and friendly interference.
Play notes: Wii U solo play uses GamePad; Trap Attack runners need Wii Remotes and Nunchucks.
