About this game

7 - Molmorth no Kiheitai is a PlayStation 2 role-playing game centered on combat encounters, turn-based tactical decisions, and area exploration. Story beats, exploration, and progression resources support a longer campaign, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Characters, world building, environments, and music carry most of the atmosphere, while 3D scenes, streamed data, cinematics, surround audio, and interlaced television output need to preserve action and state readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that dense text, menu layers, repeated battles, loading, or language dependence can slow progress. Platform conditions also include DVD loading, the 8MB Memory Card, analog sticks and pressure-sensitive buttons, Multitap, Network Adapter, dedicated peripherals, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Inventive formation puzzles in a warm storybook world.

Seven: The Molmorth Cavalry treats its seven active soldiers as an interdependent formation. Attacking from the front, healing at the rear and providing support cannot all be maximised at once, so rotating the rows becomes a consequential decision. Enemy patterns are visible, yet changing classes, fatigue and age keep the answer from becoming automatic. Painted scenery, imaginative monsters and gentle narration give that calculation an inviting fairy-tale frame. Losing a single member requires another attempt, making this a game for players who enjoy revising a plan. Saves between encounter chains soften the penalty. The postgame shifts toward continuing troop management, but a reported false-defeat problem makes that extension less dependable than the completed main adventure.

Strengths

  • Formation rotation produces meaningful tactical puzzles.
  • Art and narration create a coherent fairy tale.

Weaknesses

  • Any casualty forces a retry.
  • Postgame false-defeat issue reported.

Who it is for: Japanese-reading RPG players who enjoy formation planning.

Play notes: Original PS2 game; postgame reliability is qualified.

Row rotation makes attack, support and healing compete. Known enemy patterns produce tactical puzzles with meaningful consequences from a small command set.

Painted settings, expressive monsters and warm narration turn a straightforward plot into a distinctive fairy tale. Presentation strongly supports its design.

Between-sequence saves support adjustment, but a reported postgame fight registers defeat regardless of the outcome, undermining that mode’s reliability.
