About this game

39 Days to Mars is a PlayStation 4 adventure game centered on puzzle, maze, or device solving, area and route exploration, and objective or clue progression. Locations, objectives, and clues gradually open the main chapters, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Theme, character expression, and environmental clues need to support exploration together, while HD output, HDR or PS4 Pro modes, HDD streaming, surround audio, and television-distance interfaces need to preserve action, state, and text readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that guidance, objective triggers, camera behavior, or dense text can create search and comprehension costs. Platform conditions also include HDD installs and loading, patch version, storage space, DualShock 4 battery life, PS Camera or PS VR requirements, visual modes, frame rate, and network services affect the current release. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Charming two-person puzzles make a lively voyage.

39 Days to Mars turns an improvised Victorian spaceship into a two-person puzzle toy. One explorer pulls a lever while the other works a switch, and each new fault requires the players to explain what they see and coordinate an action. That conversation gives the small puzzles more value than a solo sequence of clicks. Hand-drawn machinery, British voice performances and absurd exchanges make the short expedition distinctive, while fresh little problems keep it moving. The firsthand PS4 review confirms that a solo player can progress with help from the cat, though some steps need more trial and error. Local play with a partner is its strongest setting. This score uses observed console interaction and presentation; it does not import the convenience of PC mouse input. Players wanting an intimate cooperative puzzle trip will find more here than those wanting a large, lengthy logic campaign.

Strengths

  • Shared contraptions and drawn presentation work together.

Weaknesses

  • Solo trial and compact scope limit appeal.

Who it is for: Players who can solve puzzles beside a friend.

Play notes: PS4 local co-op is best; solo uses a cat helper.
