About this game

007 - Agent Under Fire is a PlayStation 2 shooter game centered on aiming, shooting, and weapon use, area and route exploration, and story, case, or mission progress. Missions pace progress through enemy waves, routes, objectives, and weapon opportunities, with progress divided into stages, tasks, matches, or growth milestones that make immediate goals understandable. Its value depends on whether these rules continue to create judgment and room for mastery rather than on length, sales, or series recognition. Short campaigns are judged by repeat-challenge value, while longer ones are judged by variety, pacing, and recovery after failure. Aiming feedback, projectiles, hits, and danger zones need to remain readable, while 3D scenes, streamed data, cinematics, surround audio, and interlaced television output need to preserve action and state readability together. The genre-specific limitation is that camera turning, aiming methods, dense encounters, and peripheral support can increase control pressure. Platform conditions also include DVD loading, the 8MB Memory Card, analog sticks and pressure-sensitive buttons, Multitap, Network Adapter, dedicated peripherals, and retired online services affect present-day use. This description covers only this platform release and does not import features or conveniences from remasters, emulators, or other console editions.

Enjoyable Bond gadgets amid shallow encounters.

An original Bond assignment moves through twelve first-person missions, punctuated by Q gadgets and vehicle scenes. Finding stylish Bond moves earns medals and unlocks, so there is a reason to look beyond the direct objective. The encounters rarely repay much repetition, however: guards react slowly and level goals are straightforward. Clear models and familiar theme music deliver a spy-action mood, while repeated enemy taunts wear thin. The contemporary console review reports frame-rate variation and a default control layout that needs adjustment. Crucially, the PS2 local multiplayer does not include computer-controlled bots added elsewhere; that difference affects what a solo owner can do with its extra maps. This edition suits players interested in early original Bond shooting and perhaps local competition with friends. Players seeking layered stealth or a durable solo challenge will not find those qualities merely through the medal system. The score covers original offline PS2 content.

Strengths

  • Vehicles and medal moves vary the missions.

Weaknesses

  • Slow enemies and no PS2 multiplayer bots limit it.

Who it is for: Fans of early Bond shooting and local competition.

Play notes: 2001 PS2 original; no borrowed GameCube or Xbox bots.
