Overview
What this platform is
Xbox One followed Xbox 360, launching in its first thirteen markets on November 22, 2013. The family later expanded with the smaller One S and more powerful One X. These are Xbox One models, distinct from the subsequent Xbox Series S and Series X.
Main features
The platform combined installed games, a digital library and a television-oriented console interface. Its controller uses two analogue sticks, a directional pad and shoulder controls. Performance, storage and video features vary between models. One S, for example, introduced support for suitable 4K video and HDR content. Selected original Xbox and Xbox 360 games also run through backward compatibility.
What to know when using it
Check that a game explicitly supports Xbox One rather than only Series consoles. Physical discs require a model with a disc drive. Older games, HDR output and motion-control accessories each have their own compatibility requirements. Resolution, frame rate and visual quality depend on both the game and the particular console model.
